Among the numerous locomotives depicted here is PRR engine #8968, a BS-16M road switcher built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in June of 1951 and retired in July of 1966. MDiv. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken near Duncannon, Pennsylvania, in May of 1962. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7128 and two more "Geeps" whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7128 was built in June of 1957 and is presently in excursion service as Northern Central Railway number "7580" in New Freedom, Pennsylvania. They're about to pass the Duncannon Passenger Station with a string of empty hoppers on their way to Altoona and the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania. ("Stoneborobranch"; #51 of 56) |

Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 22 July 1962. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7129 and two more "Geeps" whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated as 1,750 horsepower each. #7129 was built in June of 1957 and retired in September of 1964 after just seven years of revenue service. In this context, they're pulling a mixed-cargo freight train out of Conway and will soon pass through the New Portage Tunnel on the way down the Allegheny Mountains to Enola and points East. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7131, #7252, #2204, #2205, and #2220. All were built by GM-EMD. #7131 and #7252 are EFS-17M's rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7131 was built in 1957, but #7252 was built in 1959. #2204, #2205, and #2220 are EF-22's built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. They are pulling a 56-car westbound merchandise freight up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. |
