Q352-19 not only had two matching ES44AC's with the new logos but also had GCK 154 Alco S6 along for the ride, as the third engine. The higher horsepower engines might have to be more common on Q352 as this train seems to be getting bigger all the time. |

SWIS S6 244 |
Description: |
Sidney Warehousing and Industrial Sites Inc. (SWIS) 244 with oil containment issues at Sidney, Nebraska on February 20, 1984, Kodachrome by Jim Altman, Chuck Zeiler collection. This locomotive was built in June 1956 (c/n 81726) as SP 1055, renumbered in 1965 to 1222. It was retired in January 1976 and sold to Chrome Crankshaft. In September 1977 it was sold to SWIS and in February 1990 it was sold to Sidney & Lowe Railroad. The following is from the book, Comprehensive Guide To Industrial Locomotives Third Edition: The Sioux Army Depot was established in 1942 to manufacture and store ammunition. It closed in 1967 and was redeveloped by SWIS for private use. This S6 - still painted inwhat might be described as distressed SP gray and scarlet - provided the muscle for the rail service utility. |

Ontario Southland's CAMI job in downtown Ingersoll |
Description: |
An Alco S6 and an MLW S13 have a long train of autoracks in tow as they smoke their way through downtown Ingersoll, ON, right before sunset. The racks were just pulled from the CN interchange and more are waiting east of town, having been brought in from the CP interchange by the Woodstock Turn. OSR serves GM's CAMI plant (which builds the Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain) which is currently shipping out 90 cars a day! |
