Description: |
Alabama & Florida railroad GP9 sits at Enterprise, AL. The A&F was a sister railroad to the Wiregrass Central. Notice the TO board behind roof tanks, the antenna (for getting blocks on CSX) and the corner of the SCL office just in front of the locomotive. You can see the rear end of 3832 on the Left. |

WGCR 3023 |
Description: |
In 1990, a GP40 was big power for a tiny shortline in rural Alabama. Here we see 3023 after a fresh coat of paint. Unfortunately the life of this locomotive was considerably short on the G&O. After a brief stint on the Wiregrass Central and a some mechanical and electric issues, she went to Florida to receive some rework. She made one final apperance for the startup of the Altantic & Gulf shortline in Georgia before being sold off. From what I understand this locomotive lives on and serves another shortline in Ohio. |
