Description:  BN SW1200 178 at Clyde, Illinois, December 1981, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Number 178 was built in March 1955 as NP 119 (c/n 20328) on EMD Order 4290, became BN 178, was retired by the BN in August 1986, and later became Granite City Steel 1190. Number ET-1 was built in April 1942 as a Baldwin VO-660, NP road number 130 (c/n 64246), converted to Electric Trailer ET-1 at the NP's South Tacoma Shops in February 1959. It was retired by the BN on February 22, 1988 and sold to Azcon Corp. in June 1988.

Description:  Burlington Northern ET-1 at Clyde, Illinois on an unknown day in December 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number ET-1 was built by Baldwin in April 1942 as Northern Pacific Railway VO-660 130 ( c/n 64246 ), renumbered to NP 652 in 1956, converted to Electric Trailer ET-1 by the NP South Tacoma Shops in February 1959, became BN ET-1 sometime after March 2, 1970, retired February 22, 1988, sold to Azcon Corporation in June 1988.

Description:  Regular Switcher and Slug set seen in Pasco,WA in October 1980. ET-2 was built by Northern Pacific as NP 650, a Baldwin VO-660 IN 1940. They rebuilt it as a slug NP ET-2 in 1960. It was finally retired in late 1988 after 48 years service. BN 179 was its regular mate being another NP loco as NP 120. It had a single life after BN, operating as NUCX 5, for Nucor Steel in Darlington,SC.

At some point it was converted to power Electric Trailer 2, former NP Baldwin VO-660 number 650, rebuild completed in May 1960 by NP's South Tacoma Shops. Note the "skate" radio antenna above the headlight.
