CN 4-8-2 #6015 - Canadian National |
Description: |
This is one of the lucky Canadian National steam locomotives to dodge the scrapper's torch and be preserved. Built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in August of 1923 (serial #1711, class U-1-a). the powerful locomotive served until retirement and donation to the Canadian Railroad Historical Association (CRHA) in Delson, Quebec, Canada in September of 1960. The CHRA eventually put the loco in a long-term lease to the city of Jasper, Alberta, Canada, in exchange for their CN 6060 locomotive. Currently it sits on display as a preserved specimen in Jasper. No photographer was listed for this photo. |

CANADIAN NATIONAL 6017 |
Description: |
The CN U-1-b was built by Canadian Locomotive Works in 1924 and scrapped in 1960. The 4-8-2 is at the Grand Trunk station in Portland ready to power the Montreal train. In less than two months after I shot the Mountain type a Pacific would make the last steam passenger run to Montreal. |
