PRR 9394, ES-12, 1960 |
Description: |
Everyday. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 2 August 1960. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #9394 and #9172. Both were built by EMD. #9394 is an ES-12 built in 1950 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. #9172 is an ES-10 built in 1948 and rated at 1,000 horsepower. Both of these locomotives are just idiling-away in the summer sun. Visible in the background are the old wooden water tower (the last vestage of the Steam Age in Hollidaysburg) and the western end of the PRR's Samuel Rea Shop. Queen Anne's lace rules the foreground! This photo was taken near the Yard Master's Office, at the very eastern end of South Juniata Street. |
