Description:  Here is the #1 on the tail end of the afternoon run to the river. We waited here for about 3 hours, as we were under the impression it only took the train 90 minutes to load. 180 minutes (3 hours) is more like it!

CMYX 1
Title:  CMYX 1
Description:  Cumberland Mine Railroad SD38-2 1 trundles back to its train at the companys barge loading facility on the Monongahela River. This railroad is isolated from any other railroad, and its lack of connections required the locomotives and cars to be trucked in. CMYX 1 was built as US Steel 1. Note the unusual safety cage around the upper grabirons on the rear. (Photograph taken on railroad property with permission.)

Title:  CMYX 1
Description:  Cumberland Mine Railroad SD38-2 crossing over Bridge 4 in Garard's Fort, PA. This is one of the more unique railroads in Pennsylvania, as it does not have a connection from any other railroad. It simply runs about 15 miles from Cumberland Mine in Kirby to an unloader in Alicia. This SD38-2 was built as USSX 1 in December 1975. Only 88 SD38-2 engines were ever made by EMD.

YDC SD38-2 #20 - Yankeetown Docks
Title:  YDC SD38-2 #20 - Yankeetown Docks
Description:  Built by EMD in November of 1972, this SD38-2 started out wearing the white with red lettering paint scheme but was replaced with a more colorful bicentennial paint scheme. It was eventually repainted into the "Can Do America" paint scheme seen here. Sometime around 2005, the loco was sold to the Respondek RR Corporation. Unfortunately no exact date or photographer was listed for this photo.

Squaw Creek Southern VIP special
Title:  Squaw Creek Southern VIP special
Description:  With floodlights from the facility across the street lighting up the countryside, RRC 11 leads at the Squaw Creek mine switch late on a saturday night after returning from Linnville, IN with 4 cars. Sort of a VIP special with several heavy hitters (as Sonny calls em) from the St. Louis area along for the trip. The Mautner brothers, Sonny Sellers, Zach Pumphrey, Joe, and Kevin joined Terry and conductor Stan for the last leg of this late evening run. Did I forget anyone? Thanks to Terry and Stan for a special day!
