Description: |
A note on the back by photographer Anthony H. Perles states "L&PS L2 at CNR interdange, while CNR 4-6-2's 5585 and 5143 (class K-3) get under way with a coal drag westbound." The L2 )along with its 2 other sisters) was built in 1915 by GE of Canada for a cost of $29,367. After retiring, it was stored for a museum which never materialized. L2 was later sold privately and moved to the Toronto area. In February 1997, L2 was moved to the Halton County Radial Railway following its donation to the OERHA. |

Description: |
While walking around the museum, we could hear a horn coming from the northwest off the Fremont Side, so after thanking the caretaker endlessly for letting us have a free walk-through, we headed over to the other side of the streets to look at the other displays and catch the train. A short NS 331 showed up moments later with a NS SD70ACu leading a BNSF GEVO, coming by the PRR Atlas Car. |

Description: |
Nice shot of the E22 pair built by Alco & GE in 1915. No date, location or photographer was given. With Steven Vincent's help (see comment below), the location is the Tacoma, Washington, shops. With Mike Woodruff and Robert Anderson's help (see comments below), the date would be after 10/1955 due to the new paint scheme applied. The slide is stamped October, 1982, most likely making it a duplicate slide. |

BAP 42 |
Description: |
Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway 42 at Rocker, Montana on October 10, 1958, Kodachrome by unknown photographer, Chuck Zeiler collection. The following is from CERA Bulletin 116, which contained reprints of various the General Electric Company publications, in this case, GE Bulletin CEA-828, published in February 1928: The Butte Anaconda & Pacific is essentially an ore-hauling road, the freight traffic from this source originating at the copper mines located near the top of Butte Hill. From the mines, the trains are lowered down the mountain a distance of 4½ miles to the Rocker yards, located a few miles west of the city of Butte. At this point new main-line trains are made up for transportation to Anaconda. The main-line division extends through a rough, mountainous country, a distance of about 20 miles, with grades as high as 0.3 per cent against the loaded trains and 1 per cent against trains of empty cars. In addition to 32 miles of electrified road, there are also numberous sidings, yards, and smelter tracks equipped with overhead trolley, which makes for a total of 123 miles on a single-track basis. |
