PULLMAN CASCADE BASIN |
Description: |
Pullman Plan #4072B 10 roomette-5 double bedroom (10RM-5DB) sleeper, built in May 1940 in Lot #6606 for the general service pool in a Two-Tone Gray paint scheme. Assigned during the winter of 1940-1941 to the SP-CRI&P ARIZONA LIMITED, along with 3 other 10-5 sleepers built in that Lot (CASCADE BOULDERS, CASCADE GULLY, and CASCADE BANKS). Also assigned to the ARIZONA LIMITED during the winter of 1941-1942 (along with CASCADE BANKS). Retained by Pullman at the 12/31/1945 divestiture (when all remaining heavyweight parlor cars and the prewar lightweight sleepers were either retained or sold to the railroads); CASCADE BANKS was also retained. Repainted in IC Chocolate & Orange as seen here in August 1950. It was stored in July 1967 and was sold in 1968 to H. Lansing Vail in Cleveland as seen here, no further disposition info. Scanned with an Epson V550 from an original Kodachrome 35mm slide. |
