8.12.2022 Mechums River, VA. Buckingham Branchs "Arvoina" tacked on behind BB locomotive#17 forming the railroads recently inaugurated Virginia Scenic Railway tours over the former C&O Mountain Subdivision. Originating in Staunton, VA, the Alleghany Special leaves at 10:30 AM Thursdays thru Sundays and heads west to Goshen for a 3 hour ride. Patrons enjoy a lunch while viewing the Shenandoah Valley countryside before returning to Staunton. Then, at 3:30, the same consist becomes the Blue Ridge Flyer, departing eastward heading for a roundtrip to Ivy, VA. Dinner is served before the train travels through the famous Blue Ridge Tunnel as it makes its way down Afton Mnt. before returning back to Staunton. Here the Blue Ridge Flyer is returning westbound to Staunton. |
