ORL 64
Title:  ORL 64
Description:  Benjamin Dillingham, founder of the Oahu Railway and Land Company, had this car assembled in the OR&L shops in Honolulu in 1900. Built for his private use, it carried numerous dignitaries and other guests of the railroad until its retirement in 1947. This car was the most elegant on the OR&L. It has a large rear platform enclosed with iron grillwork, so riders could sit in the open and enjoy the scenery and cool breezes as their train rolled along. Special features of the car included a small galley, sideboard lavatory, washstand, and leather upholestered chairs. The interior woods - oak, mahogany, and birdseye maple - conveyed a feeling of great luxury. After retirement this car was displayed at the Ala Moana Center and the Bishop Mueseum.
