Description:  Burlington Northern Railroad 968088 at Burlington, Iowa on October 23, 1983, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 968088 was built by Budd on Job 96118 for the CB&Q, ordered in February 1940, delivered in June 1940, numbered 1601 and named SILVER MAIL. It originally contained a 30 foot mail apartment and 39 foot baggage section. Cars built by Budd before WWII had the cutouts for the trucks as seen here, after the war, the stainless steel skirting was carried over the trucks.
