D&RGW 24 seat dome-42 chair-snack bar-observation #1249 (ex-C&O #1876) (Budd, Lot #9671-017, 1948), originally ordered for the cancelled CHESSIE, sold to the Rio Grande before delivery, with diaphragm added for mid-train use, and rear 16 seat lounge changed to additional 22 seat chair, assigned to the ROYAL GORGE, resold in 1970 to Bill Kratville's Autoliner Corp. (Omaha), then resold to the Root Company as the SILVER HOLLY, then donated in 1998 to the Daytona Beach Museum of Science & Technology, moved there in December 2000, opened for display in Fall 2001. Scanned with an Epson V550 from a duplicate Ektachrome 35mm slide. Date and photographer are unknown. |
