Trailing through downntown |
Description: |
I went to the old Southern station in downtown Greensboro, and caught a southbound purely by dumb luck. At the time, cabooses were common, and it was no surprise to see this red Southern car bringing up the rear. The Sandersville covered hoppers were common on Southern trains, as they shipped incredible quantities of clay from a quarry in Georgia. |

SOU X385 |
Description: |
Reportedly an original Norfolk Southern. Built in 1937. Mr. Davis said it was originally painted in the old NS black, white and red. Notice how much taller it is compared to the Southern hack. |
