ICG 1 |
Description: |
Ilinois Central Gulf Railroad Business Car 1 arriving in Chicago, Illinois on June 7, 1982, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This car later became IC 800413, built in March 1956. This was in an era when Amtrak required (or strongly suggested) to railroads that wanted their equipment moved by Amtrak should paint their equipment to match Amtrak's paint scheme. It appears that the ICG complied. |

Director's Special |
Description: |
The officers of the Illinois Central Gulf take a tour of the railroad between Chicago and New Orleans. Here, the train has just departed Central Station headed south. Although the company at this time is still officially the Illinois Central Gulf, plans were already underway to spin off the railroad from IC Industries and rename the railroad the Illinois Central. All this would come to pass a few months later in 1988. |
