MP 13014 - Missouri Pacific |
Description: |
Nice color slide by an unknown photographer of Missouri Pacific transfer caboose #13014 or what I thought was a transfer caboose. However, Stephen Borleske (see comment below) pointed out that this is a short body road caboose, not a transfer caboose. News to me but the link he provided explains that MP made hundreds of them and they were seen on almost every Mopac train in the 1980s. Not very common for transfer cabooses to be used like that in road service. The 13xxx nunbering signifies mainline road duty and used as road cabooses for most of their service life. Thanks, Stephen, for teaching an old dog something new! The date used is the slide stamp date. |
