Burlington Northern Rairoad D-257 on display at Galesburg Railroad Days on June 6, 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. I'm still searching for the heritage of this unit. It appears it also was D258 at an later date. The built date was covered with photos of this wrecker in action. Sure would like to see those photos again. So far, from Friends of the Burlington Northern Expediter Vol. 11, No. 1: D257 - See D258 - Bucyrus-Erie c/n 33767, built August 1944, 250-ton steam ( converted to diesel in 1965 ), Chicago Burlington & Quincy RR # 204376 Galesburg, IL; became BN D257, then BN D258; Seattle WA ( still here 03-08-2002 ). |
