MON Business Car #2, "Lynne"
Title:  MON Business Car #2, "Lynne"
Description:  Standing outside near the 1907 Monon French Lick depot is Monon business car #2, now restored with the name "Lynne". This was a jewel in the Monon system and it has a long history getting to this point. The absolute great news is that it has been donated to the Hoosier Valley RR Museum in North Judson, IN, who will give it the loving care it needs!

MON Business Car #2, "Lynne"
Title:  MON Business Car #2, "Lynne"
Description:  On the side of the car, the car's pedigree is spelled out. Built by Pullman in 1923, the car served the Great Northern on its "Oriental Limited" train as the "Great Spirit" car. By 1949, the car was stored in the Calumet Shops storage yard. In 1953, the Monon needed another business car and purchased it from the Pullman Corporation. Warren Brown, President of the Monon Railroad, was pleased with the updated changes to the car and named it Lynne after his two-year-old granddaughter, Lynne Marie Chambers. In 1958, Lynne was removed from the car, and it became the number 2 car, used primarily by the law department. Just prior to the Monon’s merger with the Louisville & Nashville, the car was sold to businessman Leonard Brown of Michigan City, Indiana. In November 2011, the Leonard Brown family donated the car to the Monon Railroad Historical-Technical Society. The car was donated by the MRHTS to the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in 2023.

Monon Business Car #2, "Lynne" - Trouble Spots
Title:  Monon Business Car #2, "Lynne" - Trouble Spots
Description:  Besides the beginning rust spots near the window, the black paint on the roof just above the open vesitbule is wearing away. The roof was once painted a bright blue color. I have every confidence in the volunteers at the Hoosier Valley RR Museum in North Judson, IN, to repair these trouble spots and restore the car to its brightest point yet!
