Remember when |
Description: |
Remember when the rear of every train looked something like this? NS 154 had Southern X588 bringing up the rear today, so I chased it all the way from Gastonia to Salisbury! |

Caboose on 154 |
Description: |
NS 154 waits for a signal at Salisbury. On the head end was a spiffy new SD70M-2. But it was the other end of the train that made it special. Rare in 2006, Southern cab X588 brings up the markers of an NS through freight. |

Southern X588 |
Description: |
The taggers got this side pretty badly. The other side was much better, save for the badly faded paint. |

Southern X588 on NS 154 |
Description: |
Except for some badly faded paint and stencils warning to "do not occupy car," this side of SOU X588 wasn't looking too bad. |

Feb 19, 2006 - Railroading the way it used to be |
Description: |
This was a nice surprise on the end of train 154 this Sunday. Once a common scene in America to see the caboose on the tail of a train, now its rare to ever see one on todays mainlines. |
