WPRX #1241 RUNNING CRANE LAKE |

Built in 1950 by AC&F in Lot #3445 as GN Ranch Ccr #1241 RUNNING CRANE LAKE, 1 of 6 such cars (#1240-#1245) built in that Lot for the Mid-Century EMPIRE BUILDER, which was ordered in October 1949; cars were delivered bet~een October 1950 and March 1951. The Ranch Cars had a 14 seat lunch counter, a 12 seat dinette, and a 18 seat lounge. #1240-#1242 and #1244-#1245 were owned by GN; #1243 was owned by CB&Q after 1953. In 1974, Amtrak acquired 4 of these cars as #8150-#8153, the #1241 as #8150. Amtrak increased the lounge and dinette seating from 30 to 34. The #8150 was retired in July 1;81 and in 1983 to the Nicolet Badger Northern in Laona, WI. The car was later owned by Golden State Limited in Verdi, NV, before being acquired by Lou Steplock-Wyoming & Pacific as WPRX #1241.
