Description:  Amtrak baggage dormitory transition car 9990 ( on the right ) at Michigan City, Indiana on July 12, 1982, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 9990 was built by Pullman-Standard in 1947 as number AT&SF 3477, the transition piece was added in 1956, it became AMTK 9990 and was retired by Amtrak in October 1981.

Description:  Amtrak baggage dormitory car 9990 in storage at Michigan City, Indiana on July 12, 1982, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 9990 was built by Pullman-Standard in 1947 as AT&SF 3477, the transition piece was added in 1956 for service on the El Capitan, it became AMTK 9990 and was retired by Amtrak in October 1981. I don't know the purpose of the antenna on the roof.
