Waterproofing & Ballast Mat
A photographic study in contrast, the blue waterproofing (bottom) is sprayed on as a 2-part liquid primer/finisher and once cured is a thick, tough skin protecting the steel beneath. To protect the new waterproofing from the ballast, a tough rubberized mat (top) is laid atop the cured waterproofing before the bridge is covered with ballast.
