Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E7 9920B on the westbound Train #11, The Nebraska Zephyr, at Congress Park, Illinois on June 22, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in November 1945 (c/n 2947) and traded in to GE for credit on a U30B in March 1968. Not a pretty Zephyr, it held the mail contract between Chicago and Lincoln, Nebraska, so most of the train was made of mail storage cars. The passenger accommodations at the rear was generally a five car articulated trainset from the Second Twin Cities Zephyr. |
