Scott Bruce General how do they the locomotives to the shop for conversion. If the converter I used was correct and the guage of 1600mm in one of the captions is correct, the difference is 6" or 165mm. Thats a lot. Is there US standard quage track from the port to the shop? 1/19/2008 12:10:54 AM
Scott Bruce General Great album. I am really enjoying seeing what goes on in another country. 1/19/2008 12:11:36 AM
Pedro Rezende General Hi Scott. The locomotives receives broad gauge trucks from old units as soon as they arrives at the port. Also, the company has two pairs of specially modifielded locomotives just to take the foreing locos to the shops. That locos have movable couplers becuse broad gaughe couplers are higher then standard ones. So the locos need taller couplers to pull the foreing locos to the shops. Ive seen phots here in this site about NS special trains leading brazilian MRS C38Emi somewhere in US. NS uses specially modifielded gongolas between the lead units and the brazilian ones, because the same difference of couplers hight. Look for them. I do not remember in which album I saw it. 1/19/2008 7:03:32 PM
