The locomotive weighs 115 Tons and is equipped with a model 8-567-B, eight-cylinder diesel engine, which generates 800 horsepower and 57,650 pounds tractive effort. 8619 was built for the New York Central Railroad as number 9619 and designated class DES-18C. It became Penn-Central number 8619 in 1968, then Conrail number 8619 in 1976. BSRM purchased number 8619 from Conrail in 1985. |
