No.415 is the last of 15 Rhaetian Railway meter gauge Crocodiles built 1921-29. Each end unit has a motor driving a jackshaft and six coupled driving wheels; the body contains a heavy main transformer and is suspended over the two motor units. Similar to the much larger Crocodiles built for the Swiss Federal Railways starting in 1921. Swiss Federal also built four standard gauge duplicates of the RhB Ge 6/6 in 1926. Tractive force about 40,000 lbs., about 625 horsepower, top speed 35mph. |
