The Berner Oberland Railway (BOB) was opened in 1890 to connect Interlaken with Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen and the railways from there to the high Alps. No.22 is one of the eight original locomotives which replaced steam in 1914. The locomotive was still in service but mainly for MOW, light freight, etc. It is driven by two motors, one for the jackshaft and six coupled drivers (C-type / 0-6-0) and an identical one for a cog-wheel used on the steepest grades (12%). |
