Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad coach class PA-14A 7106 westbound at Naperville, Illinois on December 8, 1964, photo by Chuck Zeiler. This car was built by the CB&Q's Aurora, Illinois shops in August 1928 and was rebuilt in August 1949, retired and converted to MOW 251194 December 20, 1968 at Havelock, Nebraska. I don't know the exact retirment date. The CB&Q received 34 new bi-level gallery cars, including six cab-control cars, in 1965, which likely meant retirement for the single level cars. I remember seeing long lines of these cars stored in Eola Yard for some time during the mid-1960's. |
