This steam engine was one of the last 2-8-0s built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1945. It was built for the army and originally numbered 5187 in WWII, then renumbered 607 in 1952. Known to the army as the S160 series engine many were sent to Europe in the months proceeding Normandy, in which they were called the S160 class by British Railways. In May 1972 the 607 arrived at the museum under its own power; however a lot of internal work must be done to get it running now. |
