MILW TR4B 694B
MILW TR4B 694B at Bensenville, Illinois on an unknown day in August 1979, photo by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in January 1951 (c/n 12455) on EMD Order 4071B as MILW 2005B, and appears to have been retired in May 1980, traded and scrapped around October 1980. It has a large box on the hood, which I do not know the purpose of. The unit is stencilled: HUMP CONTROL, perhaps the box contains some apparatus for hump control. The TR4B was basically a SW7 without a cab.

Alan Fricker General I think you're right about the hump control for the box. Notice the lack of a solid end around the coupler box-I haven't seen that before. This end would have been coupled to the cab end of an end-cab switcher or by this date, a GP9 reassigned to work the hump. 11/3/2013 5:52:05 PM
