On September 29, 1984 Chuck was called to deadhead from Milwaukee Jct. to Pontiac by auto to be fireman on a Passenger Extra (PX). We had units 4917 & 4918. The train actually made two complete circles as I recall. Both trips ran consecutively on the same day. Chuck worked the first, which ran from the yard in Pontiac, we backed down to the depot and everyone climbed aboard. We then ran to Pontiac Yard, over the Pontiac Belt Line and across the Romeo Sub to Richmond. From Richmond it was down the Mt. Clemens Sub to Milwaukee Jct., and then up the Holly to Pontiac. The second trip did the exact same thing. |
