| For those who don't know, the WST is so named because of the trackage it operates on. In Penn Central days, this was called the Winchester Secondary Track. From about a quarter miles south of this spot North to Hagerstown and points beyond, PRR and PC used this to haul coal trains from the West Cumbo (named for the Cumberland Valley, who built this line, and B&O Railroads) Coal Yard. You'll note a lack of ditchlights on the Virginia Division units, this is due to the low (10MPH) operating speed and that allows them to be exempt from the ditchlight rule. |
