| Burlington Northern Railroad SD9 6189 at Clyde, Illinois on an unknown day in August 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in August 1957 as CB&Q SD9s 442 (c/n 23621) on EMD Order 5549, it became BN 6189 and was retired in June 1986. The CB&Q stainless steel model plate is still attached, and it includes a lower case "s" (SD9s), indicating this locomotive was built with a Single control stand, unusual for the CB&Q, which had all its previous orders of SD9 locomotives delivered with dual control stands. |
