Do you have any idea when the Lexington district from Durant to Gwin Junction was abandoned?

Zac, the line from Durant to Gwin was built around 1882 by the Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad & was called the West & East Railroad. The track between Lexington & Gwin was abandoned in 1978. The line from Durant to Lexington was abandoned on Feb. 24, 1982. Thanks for your question.

You're welcome! I've always wanted to know because everytime I pass through Durant I always see the railbed where it was and always wondered when exactly it disappeared. Thank YOU for answering a long lingering question of mine!
