CB&Q class XM-32B 18219 at Kansas City, Missouri, April 1980, photo by Chuck Zeiler. This was one of 1,900 class XM-32B 40' boxcars built by CB&Q's Havleock, Nebraska shops during 1950, this particular one is stencilled as built HV. 11.50. When built it was equipped with a six foot corrugated door, but likely exchanged it for a seven panel door during shopping. It is stencilled as having visited Havelock again: HV 10.66. But, it has lost the roofwalk, note the cut down ladder on the right side, so it might have visited a shop sometime after roofwalks were outlawed. It is also stencilled: RETIRED DO NOT LOAD CW 11-77. |
