UP freight led by 4419 has just entered the "Rabbit Line" and is crossing over three KCS tracks that enter the Texas Avenue cut. The bridge the UP train is on apparently was set up for three tracks, but only had two (and now has one). To the right is an old Cotton Belt bridge that used to run to a local spur. This is Shreveport's busiest area for train watching, though it is awkward for train photography. The most distant track in the KCS cut under the train bends around and ends up where the end of this UP train is. You can see, if you look carefully, some KCS signals on the other side of the pasture that is beyond the shadows of the overpass. From the Linwood Ave. bridge, where this photo was taken, you can see the four lines here, plus two more KCS and one more UP line. |
