Our train is standing in front of the AD&N station/general office building at Crossett which sits between the three legs of the wye, along with the diesel shop. The switcher appears to be heading into the north leg of the wye to clear. The 8-track pond pass track yard is in the background. It had a yard air system and the northbound local was usually made on 3 tracks and had to be doubled over to the main. The back gate to the G-P plywood mill is on the left. Further left, out of sight, are the paper mills, chemical plants, sawmill, another plywood mille and an extrusion plant (paper). Here the train is either headed to Monticello or if on the return, it is headed for Whitlow Jct. and Fordyce. |
