| 30 years to the day of the Rock Island Shutdown has us looking out of the east end (compass south) of the 441 Foot Vale Tunnel under Bannister Road in Kansas City, MO. This was also known as Tunnel 4. It was built in 1903-1904, and is one of only 5 tunnels on the old RI. |
