This was car 157 on the 1977 Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey blue train. It was originally New York Central 5-double-bedroom/buffet/lounge observation car HICKORY CREEK, one of two such cars built by Pullman-Standard as Plan 4126 in Lot 6790 for service on the TWENTIETH CENTURY LIMITED. It was placed in service on 30 August 1948, subsequently assigned number 10570 and then 10633, withdrawn from Pullman lease on 1 July 1958, retired in 1968, and sold to Ringling Brothers. The car was photographed in the Illinois Central Gulf's Poydras Yard. At that time, the Ringling cars did not wear any reporting mark. The car is now privately-owned and has been restored to its as-built appearance. |
