"Disaster strikes!" goes a title card in the movie THE WRONG BOX when two trains crash into each other. Same could be said for the messy derailment which covered this area only four days previously. Folks were still out checking out the cleared-up scene west of the Ferndale Road grade crossing as this westbound freight grandly paraded past with a "BNSF"-ized warbonnet leading an H-1 sister dash-nine. Note the churned-up earth remaining from the derailment and the fresh rails and ballast on the siding where it happened.
