SP 40 seat club lounge (with valet room, shower, and stewardess' room) #2988 (Budd, Lot #9629-040, 1950), built for assignment to the SUNSET LIMITED, sold to Amtrak in 1971 as #3310 (seating reduced to 36; with rooms used for storage and crew space), planned for conversion from steam heat to head end power (HEP) in 1981 as #3115, which was cancelled, instead converted to HEP in 1983 as 32 seat cafe car #8701 for assignment to the AUTO TRAIN, retired in 1994 and resold in 1995 to Illinois Transit Assembly (ITAX), later to Gateway Coach/Mid America Railcar Leasing (MRLX), leased to Fort Wayne RHS.
