Pulling stored boxcars
The Albany GA shop forces monitored the pulling of stored boxcars from the old CofG line that ran between Eufaula and Union Springs AL. The fellow waving is Hershel Thompkins, the shop supervisor and great fellow. He once told me he started his railroad career on the GA Northern as a coach cleaner.

Bernie Feltman General Do you remember what they had to do on each car - i.e. lube, check air hoses, etc.? 9/12/2010 4:20:21 PM
Bob Hasty General I knew Hershel very well. He was a mechanic at the shops in Moultrie until the Master Mechanic, Mr. Carleton, died working on the Baldwin. He became the master mechanic for a while until the Southern shut down the shops. 8/18/2014 5:19:14 PM
Justin Dzan General Nice picture. I love seeing the human element of railroading. 7/26/2016 7:07:50 PM
