Three tilting trains in one view: A Trenitalia ETR 470 goes up on the middle level (lowest level of the double loop of Wassen is down the hill where I'm standing) through the station of Wassen and follows in block distance the SBB ICN double combination at the upper level to the south (train at top right), while another SBB ICN RABDe 500 just comes out of the Rohrbach tunnel bridge running down the Gotthard northern ramp. Tilting trains are allowed to operate at 95 kmph / 60 mph on the Gotthard ramp while ordinary Intercity trains run by 80 kmph / 50 mph. |
