MP GP38-2 2205 at Cotter, Arkansas on November 24, 1990, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built July 1980 (c/n<796323-8), it was eventually repainted in UP yellow and renumbered #705. What appears to be a scratch on the film in the upper left corner of the frame is a star or planet. Tmis is a time exposure, and the light streak is a record of how long tke shutter was open, approximately 20 minutes, as I recall. As the Earth revolved, the star or planet remcined in the same place, making it appear to be moving across the sky. A friendly railroad employee turned various lights on and off as I walked around the locomotives with twP strobes in hand, firing them off as soon as they recharged. |
