Stu Nicholson General Too bad this line was torn up, especially since there were still potential shippers along the line. 3/9/2011 10:34:26 AM
Bernie Feltman General Part of me hates photos like this. The historian part appreciates what used to be here - the railroader part is very sad about what is gone from here 3/9/2011 8:55:00 PM
Olaf Junges General Interesting photo! 3/13/2011 2:28:36 PM
Scott Gilbreath General Csx tore this segment of the Lake Erie Sub up in 2004, just before Ohio Central took lease of the line from Mount Vernon to Newark segment. It is said that Jerry Jacobson owner of the Ohio Central was upset. Csx destroyed this line from Sandusky to Willard in 1985 and from Mansfield to Butler. Later ion Butler to Fredericktown was removed. Ashland Railway operates this line from Mansfield to Willard. The line started in 1846 as the Sandusky, Mansfield & Newark Railroad. This was the second oldest rail line in Ohio. Csx should not have been allowed to remove anything from this line. If they didnt want to operate it then give it to someone who would have. 12/20/2011 8:04:29 PM
