Everett/Kingsland Sub Action
CSX Northbound Local, the Rocket, blasts by Waverly, Georgia on the former Everett (Now Kingsland) Sub. The Train will take the turn at Bladen, a few miles ahead for the short hop to Waycross. The former SAL route to Savannah is cut north of Thalmann and this section too will be abandoned in a little over a year from now. After CSX became "official" in 1986, it wasnt uncommon to see Chessie Power like this. Some Units were starting to display the new CSX Paint scheme by this time in Summer, 1988

Jim Bruce General Nice Shot!!! However it's not all bad. I recently found out through this site that CSXT has plans to reactivate their old line from Yulee to Calahan, and acording to my trucker Uncle a possible reason for this is that Werner Trucking (who he used to work for), wants to build a distibution center in the North FL area. 8/16/2011 3:29:16 PM
Eugene Cain General The CTC was shut down not too long after the line was abandoned between Riceboro and Thalmann. The Signals are still in place, but out of use. Ironically, the Signals outlasted the Track they once protected. After the Rails were ripped up in 1990, the signals remained for awhile. 8/16/2011 4:20:48 PM
