WE'RE ABOUT 2 1/2 MILES NORTH OF NEWCASTLE ALONG THE NS R.O.W. AND A TREE TRIMMER IS SOUTHBOUND TRIMMING THE WEST SIDE OF THE R.O.W. IN THE 1950'S, THERE WERE MULTIPLE TRACKS IN THIS AREA. THE NEW YORK CENTRAL CROSSED NEAR HERE. THIS TRACK WAS SHARED BY NICKEL PLATE AND PRR FROM THE SIGNALS SOUTH VO JUST PAST THE GRADE CROSSING AT THORNBURG ST AT THE NORTH END OF DOWNTOWN NEW CASTLE AND WAS CONTROLLED BY THE PRR. THE TRACKS DIVERGE AT THE SIGNAL AND THE LINE GOING OFF TO THE LEFT WENT NORTHWEST TO SULPHUR SPRINGS AND ANDERSON |
