This was an old CC&O boxcar that was converted to a caboose/LCL waycar when the Clinchfield owned and operated the Black Mountain Railway in Burnsville. When the BM was sold and reorganized as the Yancey Railroad, the box portion was removed and it was used as a service flat car, hauling ties, rial, and the little trackhoe used on track maintenance.
