The Manildra Group ("The Gem of the West") operates a number of grain elevators in New South Wales with at least nine units to work them. At their Narrandera location they use this 73-class GH700V locomotive for power. 50 of the 73-class diesel-hydraulics were built by Walkers for NSW RY from 1970. Rated at 650HP with a Caterpillar engine, they were retired from railroad service from 1987, although quite a few went to industrial use, like this one. |
