Great Smoky Mountains Railroad GP9's 1755 and 777 crossing the Tuckasegee River near Bryson City, NC. You will note two fellow railfans observing the train and the Conductor giving a nice wave. This was a typical hot, humid, hazy day in the Smoky Mountains. This is one of two daily excursion trains which the GSMR runs. This one departs Bryson City, NC at 10:30am and heads West to Hewitt, NC where the train pulls into a siding, the locomotives run around the train and the train heads back to Bryson City. The other one leaves Bryson City at 1pm and heads East to Dillsboro, NC, where the locomotive runs around the train and heads back to Bryson City. |
